This Orinda family entertains with wonderful large dinners.  Our first priority was to artfully terrace their hillside property to provide seating for 50 guests. A series of interlocking volumes in cream-colored smooth concrete, natural-colored concrete and patinated steel plate tame the hill, allowing differently scaled spaces to accommodate intimate gatherings and larger groupings. All grading was accomplished without walls exceeding 30" in height. A simple understated fountain anchors the entry axis.
